In the wake of increasing coronavirus cases in India, the authorities in Indian states, demanded the closure of all historical sites, including the Taj Mahal. According to Indian media, Agra Mayor Naveen Jain has urged the Union govt to close down all historical monuments in India, including the Taj Mahal, until the virus is overcome. Naveen Jain said, "Agra has a large number of foreign tourists, increasing the chances of the spread of the coronavirus across the city." "I call on the Indian government to immediately close all historical sites, including the Taj Mahal," he added. Coronavirus cases are on the rise in India and the number has jumped to 31. The Indian government has directed the state governments to refrain from public gatherings and postpone major scheduled events. Int is pertinent to mention here, the three-day event of the most popular International Indian Film Academy Awards 2020 has been canceled due to rising cases of corona virus in India. Indian media have reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also postponed a visit to Brussels where he was to attend the India Europe Summit. On the other hand, due to the spread of the virus, holidays have been announced in primary schools in New Delhi till March 31, under which all public and private schools in Delhi will be closed. It is to be noted that, the global deaths has exceeded 58,000 and more than 100,000 people are infected with the virus.
