THE Pandamaran Sports Complex in Port Klang will get a new look once upgrading works at the site is completed in July.

A total RM2.7mil had been allocated for the upgrading project by the Klang Municipal Council in its efforts to provide a more conducive environment and improved facility for the public.

Council park and recreation department director Hijaz Sanusi said the upgrading work was aimed at improving the facilities at the park and optimise the use of space at the area.

Hijaz said the square that was being constructed next to the existing car park would serve as a multipurpose area where people could gather for various informal activities.

He said it could also be used as an open bazaar when the need arose.

“A children’s playground will be built along with an area for adults to do light exercise.

“The proposed healing garden will be equipped with foot reflexology stones for those seeking natural foot therapy,” he said

Hijaz added that the existing gazebos would be upgraded so that an area for the senior citizens would be created.

He said both the existing football fields would be retained but their positions would be changed.

“Both the fields will be repositioned to reduce glare from sunlight on the pitch.

“The fields will also have a standard size,” he said, adding that currently the fields were in different sizes.

As for the jogging track, Hijaz said the track would be realigned and widened to offer more comfort to the users.

“The length of the track will also be increased from 2km to 3km,” he said, adding that the carpark area would also be upgraded with 122 parking bays.

Besides that, Hijaz said there was a plan to house a popular food chain outlet in the area.

However, he said, the council was in the midst of sorting out the technical issue pertaining to the status of the land which was gazetted for recreational and sporting use.
